He had the seeds sitting in water until the shells parted and something alive started to peek out. He did it like his teacher had told him last year when they grew flowers in pots by the Project Room window. His older brothers said it wouldn't work. "You can't grow oranges in Maine. Everyone knows that." He figured they were lying. They lied about everything. His Mother shook her head and said "Don't make a mess," then his Father smiled and patted his shoulder, which made him think he was on the right track.

good call. i hadn't thought of that. this band is very hit & miss for me, but this e.p., Cherry Tree, was definitely hit.

Good luck with the disk. If the data has been written there in the past, then there's always hope that it can be recovered, even though it can be pricy. The biggest problem is when you think you backed something up, discard your old hard drive, then realize you never backed it up!

thank you. it's like a nightmare, as you can imagine. it's like an entire limb of me got lopped off.

the worst part is, i have such a shoddy memory (partially why i write) that i only have an *idea* of what i lost, but very few concrete concepts. but maybe that's better.

thanks for the find + add, by the way. it's a pleasure to read you.

Thanks. I think--at least in our tastes in music, books, and drinks--we have more in common than my meager profile lets on. Anyone whose LJ title is a line from "Ceremony" is OK by me. :)

I found you through Ryan's LJ. He's a cool guy. He sent me krautrock CDs a few years ago, and his poetry book.

Yes, it looks like we share many interests and possibly paths/pattens of thought too. Ryan-godforsaken? He seems like a dead-talented chap, with a stunning family to boot.

21 stars review is really impressive, btw.

Cheers!

Is your book going up on ebay? Would you mind sending a link if so? I adore what I've seen of it elsewhere (though the recent prices on ebay have been a bit more than i can afford. Still... one can but try...)

It's up on ebay. It's a competitive price. =( If you look in vintage_hair here on lj, I believe someone scanned most of it and you can download it in .pdf form. yep, here it is:

btw, it's a *great* community, if you have any interest. super helpful, wonderful women and men. drama free!
